Should I have a wedding makeup trial?

Wedding makeup

Having a wedding makeup trial session with your hair stylist and/or makeup artist of your wedding makeup I feel is vital.  If you are considering ways to reduce your budget. Don’t compromise on a trial. In my experience of working with hundreds of brides over many years, there is lots to gain from a wedding makeup trial. It is the best experience and well worth the investment ahead of your special day.

Trials help visualise the final look of your wedding makeup.  It gives you an understanding of how long it lasts. How it sits on your skin and how it looks in different lights.  You will be able to feel comfortable with someone else applying your makeup, get to know your artist ahead of your wedding day. You’ll feel excited about your finished look and how it will work with your wedding outfit.

Give feedback and ask questions

This is the time to ask questions. Don’t hold back! Make sure you ask at the time of the trial so your artist can address any concerns.  You might have had a pre-decided idea of your look only to see that when it comes to life it might not be what you expected, or it just doesn’t suit you.  That’s perfectly okay.  A professional artist will not be offended by feedback about your makeup. They will want to ensure that you are entirely happy with the look. Talk to them at the time of your trial, so they have the opportunity to make any adjustments. You might decide to try a different lipstick, have a bit of extra blush or see how lashes can be enhanced.

A professional artist will be able to guide you and give you alternatives. That is why, quite often trials are longer appointments. They are certainly longer than what it will take to do on your wedding day. Don’t worry if this takes longer. A professional makeup artist will take time, to ensure that everything run smoothly on the day of your wedding. You’ll be able to buy any products that you may want to hand on your wedding day. Your makeup artist will be happy to help by giving you a list of items used at your trial.
