My name is Jenny, I am a hairstylist and makeup artist. I have always had an active interest in skincare, beauty and makeup. Whilst studying nail extensions at college, I spotted the makeup class and knew I wanted to do the course there and then. I went on to achieve cosmetic makeup course and theatrical and media makeup. My first ever bridal client was on 21st May 2001. I attended London college of fashion learning hairstyling for makeup artists. I could see the need as an artist, to create both hair styling and makeup for brides. From then, I went onto work on hundreds on brides, run a makeup franchise and pro team. After meeting other artists and networking. I began to take on other projects in various makeup genres.
My career diversified enabling me to work in a variety of makeup disciplines and I had the opportunity to travel to different parts of the globe. Working in some beautiful and unusual locations. Including working in medical moulage and casualty simulation, television and live production, events, ecommerce, bridal, online and print editorials. You can read more about various projects in the press. These experiences have embedded a diverse set of makeup artistry skills. One working day creating beauty makeup in a warm studio and the next creating injuries outside in all weathers.
Teaching
I begun teaching in colleges and to professional makeup artists in 2011 for a makeup company and was part of their pro team. During this time, I qualified as a teacher and begun to deliver CPD moulage and casualty simulation courses across the UK. After working as a visiting lecturer at a Local University. I combined my experience as a makeup artist with teaching industry relevant skills. Then I was appointed as a University Lecturer in hairstyling, wigs and makeup for stage and screen. Combining my industry experience with teaching felt rewarding sharing my knowledge and passion for the makeup industry to aspiring students. I aim to teach and enhance skills that enable you to have confidence with embedding your training into your working practice.
